Where can I buy 28x30x2 air filters for WaterFurnace?

    Hi All,

I need to replace the air filter in my WaterFurnace Envision and the filter is sized 28x30x2. Lowes or Home Depot do not carry those sizes and no other hardware stores do either. Amazon.com has one filter, but the actual size is half inch less on all sides, which will make large gaps all around. I googled 28x30x2 but didn't find anything useful. WaterFurnace web site is also not very useful. I e-mailed them , but in the mean time I was hoping that existing WaterFurnace owners would help me out and tell me where you guys buy replacement air filters.

    Thanks!

Update: I don't know how to delete my posting - I found a lifetime cleanable custom filters at JeffOtto.com $130, not bad.

Here's where I got 'em, about 2 years ago: eslfilters.com

These are WaterFurnace OEM "AirGuard Powerguard" filters -- identical
to the one that came in my WF Envision NDV038 (in Nov or Dec 2008).

There have been at least one or two threads on this forum (after I bought
the filters above) with better prices on the same or similar filters, but I'm
afraid I didn't bookmark them. Suggest you try the forum search feature.

    good luck,

    Looby

    hren,

We have read your comments regarding where to find filters for your WaterFurnace. We do sell filters directly to homeowners. You can go to our website, WaterFurnace - Smarter from the Ground Up™, and fill out the “Contact Us”form, or filters may be purchased from your local WaterFurnace dealer.

Wow you compete with your dealers for filter sales?

Hi, thanks for the info. I did come across this web page, but their filters are 1/2" smaller on length and width. I measured my current WaterFurnace filter and it is a true 28"x30"x1 3/4". I'd have a gap with 27 1/2"x30 1/2". I already ordered reusable filter that is the exact size of the current filter. A bit more expensive, but will last for many years.

    AMI Contracting,

We do not compete with our dealers for filter sales. Some contractors do not make filters available to their homeowners; therefore, we allow homeowners to purchase them directly from the factory. A customer will most likely receive the best price by purchasing filters through a WaterFurnace dealer.

    Suppliers

I'm happy to have local suppliers sell directly to the public. Pain in the @$$ all the different filter sizes that nobody carries let alone me. Ill source and purchase to be helpful, but it is not a profit motive.

    I agree with Chris,

I don't want to be in the filter business

So then there is a screening process through which you are able to determine no dealers in the purchasers area are interested in the sale?

    AMI Contracting,

When we are contacted regarding filters, we suggest thatvthe homeowner contact their dealer first to inquire about purchasing filters. We also explain that we are not competing with our dealers, and they may get a better price by contacting their dealer. When a homeowner purchases filters directly from the factory, they will pay the full suggested retail price. If they were to purchase filters through a WaterFurnace dealer, they would most likely receive a better price.

There are many sources for filters on the internet; unfortunately, the filter sizes used in our equipment are not available at the local hardware store. We are simply an avenue for the homeowner to purchase filters. We have sold filters to less than 15 WaterFurnace owners this year, and we would not consider this competition.

I offer advice to my clients as to what is a feasible level of filtration given the area and depth of their filter carrier vs system air flow.

Then I offer to provide filters or, preferably, direct them to online sources such as FiltersNow

    Hmm,
The suggestion of contacting the dealer seemed secondary in this offer to help with filters:

Filters are not small potatoes, that's why Orange and Blue stores wanted in. We try to keep our customers in 1Xyear filters that we change when we do fall or spring check-ups. While not a huge revenue stream they help to raise margin on the otherwise lackluster check-up charge. For others that do not have check-ups we sell in lots of three or more to make it worth the time.

A manufacturer dealing directly with my clients is short sighted. To gain a once/year customer, they risk loosing my several cases/yr business.

United Filter (link above), like most online filter places in Canada, don't sell the sizes we're generally looking for.

I get my filters from 4QualityAir.com They have the sizes that I need - same as you 28x30x2. I prefer the Powerguard brand. I also get my AC filters for my other home. Free Shipping and fast delivery is hard to beat.

I have a question, would you keep the filter in the water furnace unit and also keep filters at the return grills or would you just have the filters at the return grills?

I keep filter material at the returns that I just vacuum out a few time a year and change the pleated filters at the unit a couple times a year if needed.
