So, I have a 20 year old Waterfurnace that is getting replaced. I was wondering what to do with the old unit? Is it worth anything? It looks in great shape and should I just let the contractor haul it away? Thanks. Cheers Matt
Oh you could try to sell it on Craig's list, but if you end up scrapping it someone will have to recover the refrigerant
Given the price of R-22 these days, one would thing they would be paying you to recover the refrigerant. ;-)
All you need to harvest that $3/lb is hundreds of dolllars in equipment and a full, clean cylinder. You won't find people clamoring for it.
I typically give my customers a small credit and than have local boces students come to the shop and play with them.
