Just had a new WF 5 series 3 ton unit installed. The thermostat is pretty ugly and not modern looking. It's not the high end touch screen one that I wanted but didnt know it was an extra add on. Seems riiculous they want a ton more money for wifi connectivity when you can buy a wifi thermostat for like 100$. What are my options? Are there any thermostats that will show energy consumption and maybe display weather like my honeywell would?
I did a quick search for the manual, this is what I found. https://www.honeywellhome.com/en/products/thermostat/wi-fi-smart-thermostat-rth9580
Maybe... I would need to know how and when the tstat engages "aux" heat. It might use the weather info, which wouldn't work if all it does is engage at X temp.
Look into EcoBee. https://support.ecobee.com/hc/en-us...hermostat-for-use-with-a-geothermal-heat-pump There have been posts here that speak about having them installed with a Heat Pump system. I have the same thermostat that you have - honestly it does what it needs to. I came from a household with an EcoBee, and it was cool - Web enabled, could track start/stop, outside temp etc.
