Hi all. I am looking for a low temp t stat or other control to use element in buffer tank for em ht/freeze protection if heat pump should fail. Problem being lowest setting approx 110 deg with tank temp setting being 100. We have used temp controller bulb on supply line from tank wired to contactor controlling element power but looking for cleaner install. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
There are many different controls. You might also want to get a well for whatever temp bulb you use. Ranco makes a nice and inexpensive digital thermostat.
Would this control be able to handle the amperage of the element or would it require a separate contactor? Thanks.
You could use almost anything..we keep a few on each on the trucks because they can be used for almost anything HBX-0100 JCI A410 and of course a box of relays/contactors (in the same box in 230-24V transformers with circuit breakres)
Thanks. I will check these out. I was just thinking how nice & easy it would be to just wire in the water htr/buffer tank, set the tank stat @ say 70, & be done.
