I have two pvc sleeves in basement wall where my loop pipes enter in. They are leaking water thru them. I do not know what they used on the outside to seal between pvc and hdpe pipe or if anything. Is there some kind of caulk i can use from inside to seal between pvc sleeve and loop pipes. My system is 2 years old.
I do not know if hydraulic cement would work in this application, or if it would do more harm than good. How about old fashion silicone caulk (rated for 30 - 50 years)?
I might suggest a product called pro-poxy20 that has been recommended by some basement waterproofers.
In my crawl space where it went under the footer I have 18" of water standing. I am not sure why. I would think the footer drain would carry away but I guess it is lower than drain. I will need to pump it out and fill the hole some how. There is plastic covering it up right now.
My vote I would aim for an exterior concrete water sealant. Two places it can be leaking. Between the sleeve and wall or between sleeve and pipe. You can often get a spray can of the stuff I'm thinking of. Otherwise, another vote for silicone.
Dig up your pipe penetration on the "outside" of the wall. Dump in a twelve dollar 50# bag of granular bentonite such as ben-seal from barroid corp. Your water problem is solved forever. It has been my experiance that to stop the water outside trumps trying to hold it once it is allready half way through the door. You would never try and fix a roof leak from inside the attic? You would go outside. hope this helps Eric
MetraSeal Wall Penetration Seals by Metraflex Mechanical seal, works well for pipes within PVC pipes.
I dont think that they used a sleeve underneath my footer. The one that I provided was cut up and left under the house. I have the hole in the crawlspace with water standing where it comes under footer. I bet I could just backfill it and forget it if I had the dirt. Since I don't it will have to be carried the length of the house. I am not looking forward to that job. Thanks for the suggestons.
I sleeved the 1" poly well and dump pipe on my open loop system with 1-1/4 PVC conduit mortared into the poured concrete wall. This was a near-perfect fit. I ran a beed of silicone caulk between the poly pipe and PVC sleeve, then wrapped that area in plastic and tie-wrapped. I used the same arrangment for the pump cable passing through the wall, figuring would be easier to replace pipe or cable in a sleeve if I ever needed to. No leaks at all. But this problem may be dependent on poor foundation drainage or standing water, which I do not have
Sorry have been busy. Any well drilling supply house. DSI, or drillers supply serves nc. google them up and they can prolly help out. Eric
We use Fernco fittings on the outside of the house and MetraSeal Wall Penetration Seals by Metraflex on the inside of the house
We have used seals similar to the MetraSeals. Just curious what the Fernco fitting is used for? Can you make a water tight seal with one?
I would not leave just a Fernco fitting on a job we do as I am sure it may leak over time. We use the Ferco as an added layer of protection, although not required when using metraseal. It is also a good tool to place on the end of the PVC sleeve to reduce any issues one may run into when backfilling as it helps center the HDPE pipe within the PVC sleeve.
