I have an 8-year-old unpressurized QT Flow Center with a Grundfos UPS 26-99F circulator that is overheating (inspection screw at the end of the shaft too hot to touch) and drawing excessive current. I'd like to upgrade to an ECM circulator but the pump flange is embedded with foam insulation in the unit and looks about impossible to replace. Can I swap an ALPHA1 26-99 ECM motor and impeller onto the UPS 26-99F flange? I can handle the speed control and electrical connections, I just want to know whether the swap is physically possible. thanks
This is what I was told for the Alpha2 26-99, might be similar with the Alpha1 26-99: The Grundfos UPMXL 25-124 is currently used in Geo-flo variable speed flow centers, might be a better option, but same issue, volutes aren't normally compatible.
