Joe, FYI ~ I sent an email to the address you list on your AMI Contracting website. I'm having lots of health issues related to a geothermal antifreeze leak that happened last fall and was hoping to get some input from you. Just wanted to give you a heads up so that you can keep an eye out for my email, hopefully it didn't go into your junk / spam folder. Thanks
Thanks to this message, I did get yours today. I'm not sure why you do not wish to share that here (unless you have and I didn't see it) but I will reply privately.
I did send you an email the day I said I would. You are in an enviroment that appears to be unhealthy for you. I do not wish to hypothesize at your expense. Were someone to be having milder reactions like your folks we could discuss roots of the problem and ventilation strategies, but- better that you relocate. As I told you in the email that is what the client you referred to did.
My apologies Joe. I didn't receive your email. And I don't get much stuff in my junk folder so, I know your email didn't land in there. Not sure what happened. Thanks for your response.
Joe, Quick update.... Since we're still battling the sweet chemical smell in the basement, I called the furnace contractor and asked him to come out and test the unit for a 401A refrigerant leak. He and I both agreed that one probably would not be found because the unit seems to be heathing / cooling just fine but, I asked him to "humor me". He was here yesterday and ironically, he found a leak on the coil ! It's in a spot that he can't get to with the tools to fix. So, he's ordering a new coil / catch pan on Tuesday (cuz they're all one piece), having it shipped overnight, and hopefully will have it installed and working by the end of next week. If we're lucky, the weird smell will dissipate and be done with for the first time since November 2015 when this whole mess started.
