When I had my split system installed, the dealer came to me with the contract ready to sign and said,"Oh, by the way, this system can't be installed with Bosch equipment because Bosch does not make an airhandler with the configuration we've discussed." So he suggested using an American Standard 4 ton airhandler. No difference was mentioned in the estimated price. I am beginning to think the AS quality might not be quite up to Bosch. Should there have been an allowance for price? Butch
There is little difference in quality from one air handler to the next (or price). If anything American standard has been in the air handling business longer. Just make sure the warranties are what you expected and don't sweat the change.
Thanks, Joe. It seems to me, though, that if they replace the parts on this AS airhandler with identical parts, then the next time we have a power outage, I'll be going through the same process to try to get it working. I'm already tired of the process. Butch
I was not connecting the dots between our 2 conversations. Air handlers are little more than a box with a fan and DX or hydronic coil in them. They generally have little thinking (processing) hardware. They do often have a time delay so that the blower lets the refrigerant start cooling or heating the coil first. Balance of time delays between compressors and air handlers would be installers job. I wonder if you have a 5 minute delay built in to the airhandler (after power is out) and a shorter one in compressor..........too little to go on. that aside, I have never used a X brand heat pump airhandler as they generally buy their's from a furnace manufacturer anyway. Changing the paint job and name on an air handler does not make it better.
Yes, but this one has several sensors on the coils and some printed circuit boards wired to an led display.
ok well hopefully it keeps working, there is no information in your 2 threads that would aide in troubleshooting remotely.
Does the compressor and air handler pairing constitute a matched set with a unique AHRI certificate? If not, the system may not be code compliant nor deliver rated efficiency.
