Anybody experimented with these?

I have seen utility companies use these for years with much success. I figured it was only a matter of time before it came to light for our industry.

I suppose it's like anything else. Who is willing to have a mechanical connection underground and un-accessable? Thoughts?

been there liked the product, hated the cost. They have been around since almost the begining and like I said they are coooostly!!!
Fusion fittings and the small amount of inventory space plus cost is the only way to fly. They also do not tollerate dirt and un-square ends very well.

    COST

I agree about the cost. I had to pick up a 1/2" coupling for a line we hit on a job and If I remember it cost me like $36 or something.

we use them for repairs when we can't do a butt fusion or socket fusion due to space limitations.

When I worked as a fitter for Columbia Gas in Ohio, these fittings were "preferred" for service line installation vs. butt fusion. We never had a leak or problem but as employees we were not concerned with cost.

We recently employed the Geostab fittings at a site and they are nice. We had an eye towards the DIY market where cost still matters, but you are weighing it against purchase or rental of fusion tools.
