CaliforniaGeo Comments on 2013 Integrated Energy Policy Report
CaliforniaGeo recently filed comments on the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Draft 2013 Integra-ted Energy Policy Report. State law requires the CEC to conduct assessments and forecasts of all aspects of energy supply, production and infrastructure every two years and an update every other year. The association’s comments in the best interests of the geothermal heat pump (GHP) industry included:
-
- A request for creation and publication of a full Staff Report that includes all of the work product from the GHP workshop and the working group.
- A request that the CEC undertake an immediate effort to work with industry to co-fund and co-develop necessary changes to state Building Energy Efficiency Standards that will ensure GHPs are treated fairly as a high-performance energy efficiency measure.
- Considering the negative impact of non-inclusion of GHPs in Building Energy Efficiency Standards, a request for suspension of the Title 24 compliance requirement on residential and non-residential projects utilizing GHP systems.
