Mission Statement
The Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium is the non-profit trade association for the geothermal heat pump industry. As an impartial third-party voice, we promote the design and installation of GeoExchange® heating and cooling systems, the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly heating and cooling technology in the world.
Our mission is to support national and state efforts to optimize energy efficiency and mitigate environmental impacts by promoting maximum sustainable growth of geothermal heat pump technology.
Our priorities are to:
- Support GHPC Members in meeting their business objectives
- Advocate geothermal heat pump technology in Federal and State legislation and regulatory activities
- Educate the public and decision leaders to differentiate geothermal heat pumps as a unique renewable HVAC technology
- Collaborate with related industry organizations and governmental agencies
GHPC supports industry efforts to include geothermal heat pumps in Federal energy legislation, which have resulted in tax credits for residential geothermal heat pumps being increased from $300 to 30% of the system cost. More importantly, geothermal heat pumps are now recognized as a renewable energy technology alongside wind and solar, allowing geothermal heat pumps to play an integral role with other renewable energy technologies in meeting energy and environmental goals, for example a future Federal Renewable Portfolio Standard.
GHPC works collaboratively with other related industry organizations, including the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, the Geothermal Resources Council, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, the National Ground Water Association and the American Ground Water Trust, as well as the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Labor.
GHPC educates consumers and decision leaders through its website at www.GeoExchange.org and its toll-free telephone information line at 1.888.All.4Geo. Its online GeoExchange Directory allows potential customers to find geothermal contractors and its GeoExchange Forum at GeoExchangeForum.org provides a vibrant platform for discussion of relevant issues.
